Mock Trial Club

The purpose of Mock Trial / Moot Court is to engage students in educational experiences that simulate aspects of the legal profession, thereby enabling students to be informed of the skills required for the legal profession if a student is considering law as a career, and to practice and develop skills necessary for law and related disciplines such as public speaking.

This club is for any student with an interest in the legal profession and competition, stressing the development of skills in public speaking, debating, impromptu thinking, writing, acting, and analysis of legal issues. They must also be interested in a strong commitment to competing and devoted to three months of weekly meetings to prepare for competitions.

This club competes in the Michigan Mock Trial Regional Tournament annually in Detroit or Grand Rapids. They also compete in a local competition on Law Day in May. There are two to three competitions per year.

The club meets every Sunday for three months.
