1. Attention Seniors! All media center books are due Thursday, May 17th.  Starting Friday, May 18th caps and gowns will be held until all books are returned.

Prom tickets are on sale NOW at both lunches.  Tickets will be $25 a ticket pre-sale and $30 at the door on the night of the Prom.   Tickets will be on sale until Friday May 18 during lunch time only.  Make sure you get your tickets for the Prom so you don’t miss out of Mile High from WIOG and so you can have the Best Night Ever!!!

3. Just a reminder that cheer tryouts are coming up on May 22nd through the 24th. You can sign up and pick up information in the main office. If you have a conflict with tryouts, please see Coach Snyder as soon as possible. Go Chargers!

4. The Marine Corps recruiter will be making one final visit to Dow High on Friday, May 18th. If you haven’t had a chance to meet with him and would like to do so, please sign up in the counseling center.

5. Attention Poetry Lovers:  The Dow High Poetry Club is sponsoring it’s first ever Open Mic Poetry Night.
Join us at Journey’s Coffehouse on Main Street, Downtown, This Friday night from 7 – 9 p.m.
You can bring a poem to read, or just come to hear some original work read by local poets.
Grab a coffee or a gelatto, read or listen to a few poems, have some fun.
Once again, that’s Open Mic Poetry Night this Friday at Journeys.

6. Hellooooo Dow High students, this Saturday, May 19th, is Midland Blooms. Do you need some volunteer hours or are you looking for something to do? Then come to the Walgreens parking lot at 8:30 a.m. to help Dow High plant flowers! Let’s help make Midland BEAUTIFUL!

8. The Media Center will be closing at 2:30 p.m. today because of a staff meeting.

9. The Girls JV Soccer Team played  Davison yesterday winning 4 to 1.

10. Attention current NHS members, those of you who need clarification on the new requirements expected of all members and the probationary period for new members, please attend this optional meeting on Thursday, May 17 7:10 AM and 2:35PM in the little theater. Again, this is OPTIONAL. If you can’t make the meeting, all the information presented will be on Moodle or you can talk to Mrs. Fredell.

11. Monday night the freshman baseball team picked up two wins over the Coleman JV baseball team 14-4 and 11-0.  With the wins, the Chargers are now 12-11 and wrap up their season tonight with a double header at home against Midland High.  Come on out and support your fellow Chargers.  Game time is at 3:30.

8. The Girls JV Soccer Team played  twice this past weekend.  They beat Midland High on Friday 6 to 1.  They tied Traverse City Central on Saturday 3 to 3.

9. Attention BPA Members, don’t forget about our last meeting of the year today after 7th hour in Mr. Cook’s room. We’ll be electing next year’s officers, so make sure that you’re present if you want a certain leadership position.

10. Your Boys Charger Track Team place third in Division I at the Alma Invitational on Saturday.

1. Interested in joining the pom team during the 2012-13 school year? You are invited to join us for conditioning and tryout preparation in the gold gym loft on Mondays from 6-8 pm and Thursdays from 4-6 pm. Tryouts will be held May 14-18. Tryout packets are available in the office.

Hey Chargers!  Do you have any new or gently used children’s t-shirts?  The girls in Muko Uganda could really use them.  The shirts would be used to go under pillow case dresses that are very much needed by the girls in the Ugandan village who only own two outfits.  Don’t have any t-shirts lying around?  A donation of $5 will also be used to buy t-shirts.  There is a drop box outside of the main office where you can put the t-shirts or a box in the office to donate money today through Friday.  Thank you for supporting this great cause.

5. Did you know that ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease? Around 50 percent of patients live at least two years after diagnosis, 20 percent live five years or more and up to ten percent survive more than ten years!
Please help in the fight with Members First Credit Union for ALS. You can visit the Dow Branch, located Charger Shop to purchase your feet for only $1 or and receive an ALS bracelet to wear! The feet will be hung up at the school’s Members First Credit Union branch and the bracelet is for you to show off your support for ALS! All proceeds go to the ALS of Michigan.
The Dow Branch is open during lunch hours. Thank you for your help by raising money for ALS!

9. Student action club we will be having a meeting today at 3:35. We will be taking some pictures for a poster and discussing fundraising.

10. The Girls JV Soccer Team played Bay City Central yesterday winning 10 to 0.

11. Girls JV Lacrosse came from 5 behind to win their Tuesday game against Flushing 14-13!!!

12. Hey Chargers!  It is POPCORN Thursday!  Come on down to the concession stand during both lunches and get your hot, buttery popcorn!

Hey Chargers!  Do you have any new or gently used children’s t-shirts?  The girls in Muko Uganda could really use them.  The shirts would be used to go under pillow case dresses that are very much needed by the girls in the Ugandan village who only own two outfits.  Don’t have any t-shirts lying around?  A donation of $5 will also be used to buy t-shirts.  There is a drop box outside of the main office where you can put the t-shirts or a box in the office to donate money today through Friday.  Thank you for supporting this great cause.

Hey all you new and old NHS members!!  I repeat, New and Old NHS members.  But not the seniors, sorry, your time has gone.  All you, whether you’re on probationary period or not, this coming Thursday is the first meeting with the new officers and members, so be sure to make it.  There is a meeting at 7:10 in the morning before school in the Little Theater by Mrs. Bushey’s room and another after 6th hour at 2:35.  Be sure to make it to one of the meetings to figure out what’s in store for this summer and the coming year.  But remember, this is only for juniors and sophomores.  NO SENIORS!!  See you Thursday.

12. The JV baseball team won a doubleheader at Saginaw Nouvel yesterday by scores of 6-2 and 15-0.

13. Last week, teachers were asked to nominate a candidate for the IB Learner Profile Student of the Week. They were given the trait Caring.
Next week’s trait will be reflective. Someone who is reflective gives thoughtful consideration to their own learning and analyses their personal strengths and weaknesses in a constructive manner.

14. Congratulations AP Bio students on the birth of your first chick! Life is good

15. Yesterday, the varsity baseball team completed their double header with Bay City Central from last week by splitting the two games.
In game two, walks and errors led to a 9-3 loss for the Chargers.
The varsity baseball team is 14-8 on the season, 9-5 in the SVL, and will host Saginaw Heritage on Thursday for a league double header.

16. 4. The tennis team tied for 4th at the Holly invitational.  The girls came in only 2 points behind the number one team in the state in division 1 and 2.   Great job ladies!

4. National Honor Society forms are due today.  Please turn them in to Ms. Almond in the main office by the end of the day.

Any questions can be addressed to Mrs. Keyworth. The time for prayer will start at 7:05 AM.  We hope to see you there.

6. The JV Golf split a pair of matches last night losing to Midland High and defeating Mt. Pleasant.
The Chargers will travel to Bay City Central on Thursday.

7. Thanks to outstanding play the boys’ golf team made it three for three in SVL tournament play, finishing in first place with a season low score of 209.  The boys will play next on Saturday.  Congratulations!

1. Hey, Seniors!  Our annual Senior/Staff Basketball Game is coming up fast!  The game will take place during the Spring Assembly on Friday, May 4.  You cannot play if you’re already on a Varsity Basketball team, but all other senior boys and girls can sign up to participate in Student Services.  This is your chance to prove senior superiority out on the court!  Grab your friends and sign up today!

2. All seniors who would like IB testing results sent to a non-U.S. school should see Ms. Pancost in the Counseling Office by the end of the day (if she has not already spoken with you).

6. The Varsity Softball team continues to play well.  They have split games with two SVL rivals, Bay City Western and Mt. Pleasant.  They have also swept Flint Southwestern and Saginaw Arthur Hill.  Hannah Cone continues to pitch well with strong outings by Casey Adair and Alex Wood.  The entire team has contributed to the improving offense of the Chargers.  The ladies are now 12 – 4 overall and 10 – 2 in the SVL.  They host another SVL rival, Bay City Central, this Thursday.  Stop out and support the Charger softball teams.
